Group Life, Accident, Sickness, Critical Illness and Travel Benefits Scheme

Most Police Officers need to consider the risks they face in their lives, both on and off duty. Some of the main risks are of being assaulted, hurt in an accident or falling ill.

Avon & Somerset Federation offers an insurance scheme to provide Officers with cover to help look after their needs throughout their service with the Force; holiday travel insurance is also included. Hundreds of thousands of pounds in benefits are paid out each year - most Thames Valley Officers are scheme members. (A separate scheme is likely to become available for support staff/PCSOs). Additional schemes are available for Officers’ spouses/partners. Contributions are paid direct from salary.

Joining the Scheme

New recruits to the Force are allowed to join the scheme on preferential terms and free of charge for an initial period. Joining later is subject to acceptance terms.

If you are a serving Officer with Avon & Somerset and wish to apply to join the scheme, contact the Federation office for an information pack (telephone 01275 878854).

If you are about to join the Force, either as a new recruit or a transferee, the Federation will send you the information automatically.
